Palmer Manufacturing & Supply, Inc. is seeking an Industrial Service Technician to perform on-site installations and repairs across the U.S. and abroad.

Ideal candidates bring a strong mechanical background, basic electrical wiring skills, and the ability to read drawings and schematics. You will travel 25–50% of the time, work with electrical controls, assemble components, and assist with installations at customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Field service travel to service and repair equipment; travel 2 days to 1 week for U.S. and Canada. Travel may be 25–50% with up to 25% additional pay.
• Electrical machine controls wiring and calibration using drawings and instructions; PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Assemble mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical components including piping and wiring per schematics and drawings.
• Assist service team with installations and repairs, including travel to customer sites.
• Commissioning of new equipment at customer sites.
• Use drawings, blueprints, and shop tools to complete all phases of the product.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding inventory and scheduling.
• Willingness to wear a respirator and train to paint equipment if needed.

We are currently searching for an industrial Service Technician. This position within our Service Department conducts on-site customer installations and repairs, which requires travel within and outside the United States, sometimes on short notice. Candidates must have a strong mechanical background and be familiar with electrical wiring of components such as motors, pumps and switches. Candidates should be familiar with pneumatics and hydraulics and be capable of trouble-shooting all machine operations, both mechanical and electrical. Strong candidates will enjoy the hands‑on assembly of machines when not performing field service. Our Mechanical Assemblers are part of a team responsible for the assembly of OEM machines using schematics and drawings.

This position will work 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, while working in-house. Initial training may require hours to alter between 6:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. based on training needs. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.; possess an unrestricted driver license with an acceptable record; be willing and able to travel via automobile & airplane around and outside the U.S.; have the ability to obtain a passport; and pass a background check. Relocation assistance is not available.

Position Responsibilities

• Field Service: travel (25%-50%), sometimes on short notice, to service customer needs including startup or repair of equipment. Travel from 2 days to 1 week is common to customer plants in the U.S. and Canada. The travel percentage fluctuates monthly based on customer demands. Up to an additional 25% pay during travel.
• Electrical Machine Controls: knowledge of machine controls and ability to wire and calibrate control devices using shop drawings and manufacturer’s instructions.; PLC programming and troubleshooting using Allen Bradley RSLogix platforms
• Machine Assembler: assembly of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical machine components including piping and wiring based on schematics and drawings, using power tools or hand tools as required.
• Assist Service Team with installations and repairs, including travel to customer sites
• Commissioning of new equipment at customer site
• Use drawings, sketches, blueprints, hand tools, power tools, & shop equipment to complete all phases of the product
• Work with production staff to complete jobs on time
• Ability & willingness to wear a respirator and train to paint equipment if needed
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area
• Effectively communicate with supervisors regarding material inventory, shop supply inventory and product scheduling
• Willingness to help in other areas as directed

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in a maintenance or mechanic position - required
• MS Outlook and Word experience - preferred
• Must be trainable and willing to learn
• Physical requirements: stand/walk for extended periods; navigate stairs & ladders multiple times per day; bend; kneel; twist; work overhead; ability to lift, carry, & lower 50 lbs.; work at heights; work in compact spaces
• Must wear safety toe shoes and safety glasses in designated areas
• Must be reliable and have a good work ethic
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills and communicate professionally and effectively
• Must possess an unrestricted driver’s license & driving record which meets our insurance requirements for coverage
• Must pass a background check

• In-house: 8-hour shift; Monday-Friday; first shift; unpaid 30-minute daily lunch break
• Occasional mandatory overtime as directed, including weekends and common during travel
