Job summary

ProPump & Controls, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician to service, install, and repair automated pump stations and related equipment within the assigned area.

You will identify opportunities for new equipment and service sales and coordinate with the Regional Field Service Manager and Inside Sales Manager to secure orders, while representing the company professionally at all times. The role requires troubleshooting, installation, preventive maintenance, and the ability to instruct

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on automated pump systems.
• Diagnose motor and controls issues using meters and alignment tools.
• Instruct customers on proper procedures for operating and maintaining equipment.
• Install pump stations, pumps, and motors using cranes and other heavy equipment.
• Set up and maintain telemetry networks (radios, modems, DSL, etc.).
• Perform pump station preventive maintenance: lubricate bearings; change oil in turbine motors; re-pack pumps; inspect valves and screens.
• Inspect pump screens and wet well using underwater camera.
• Measure pump and motor performance.
• Promote sales of company products and services to solve customer problems.

Description

The ProPump & Controls, Inc. Field Service Technician is responsible for service, installation, and repair of automated pump stations, pump controls, piping, valves, and related equipment, within their assigned operating area. They are expected to identify opportunities for both new equipment and service sales, and work with both their Regional Field Service Manager and the Inside Sales Manager, as required, to secure orders for the company. As a representative of the company in direct contact with end-user customers, the Field Service Technician is expected to conduct themselves in a highly professional manner at all times.

Responsibilities of a ProPump Field Technician Include:

• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on automated pump systems.
• Use a multimeter, process meter, megger, vibration meter, laser alignment tool, and other instruments to diagnose pump motors and controls issues.
• Instruct customers on proper procedures for operating and maintaining equipment.
• Install pump stations, pumps, and motors using cranes and other heavy equipment.
• Set up and maintain telemetry networks utilizing radios, cellular modems, DSL lines, etc.
• Perform pump station preventive maintenance, including
• Lubricate motor bearings
• Change oil in turbine motors
• Re-pack pumps
• Inspect and rebuild hydraulic control valves
• Inspect and clean wye strainers and filter screens
• Inspect pump screens and wet well with the use of an underwater camera
• Measurement of pump and motor performance using
• Promote sales of company products and services to solve customer problems.

Qualifications:

• Excellent communications skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to learn to read and interpret wiring schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical literature.
• Computer proficiency.
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record. (No DUI’s)
• Must be willing to take a drug test.

Experience:

Some college preferred, with preference given to applicants with science or engineering background

United States Military or job history performing some type of mechanical or electrical work in lieu of college courses.

Previous job or hobby reflecting interest in technical subjects.
