Role Description
This is a full-time Field Service Technician role at SOUTHWEST LIFT & EQUIPMENT, INC. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and installations of various types of equipment, including lifts and other machinery. You will work closely with our customers to ensure their equipment is functioning properly and provide recommendations for improvements or replacements. Technicians travel throughout the state of Arizona daily with the occasional overnight/out of town stay in support of customers in the far reaches of the territory as well as to support operations in Southern California.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy-duty shop equipment.
- Install and commission new equipment.
- Diagnose hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and control-system issues.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and service documentation.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment condition, repairs, and recommendations.
- Complete accurate service reports and documentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle and work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and applicable industry standards.
- Work independently while also supporting other technicians and the Southwest Lift team when needed.
- Travel throughout Arizona and occasionally into Southern California.
Qualifications
Required
- Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
- Ability to work independently and manage daily field assignments.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, climbing, bending, and working around heavy equipment.
- Ability to occasionally travel for up to one week at various intervals throughout the year. (Generally, only occurs 3-4 times per year).
- Ability to be on-time and work assigned days.
- Ability to work overtime, as needed.
- Ability to work at schools and other government institutions such as military installations, municipal fleet shops as well as prisons, jails, and transit facilities.
Preferred
- Experience with equipment maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of electrical components and basic electrical troubleshooting.
- Previous experience working with vehicle lifts, heavy-duty equipment, automotive equipment, industrial equipment, or similar machinery.
- Welding or fabrication experience.
- Previous field service experience.
- MSHA Part 48 Certification
$20.00 - $24.00 per hour starting
*(potential to make $40.00+ on prevailing wage jobs).
