Schlumberger (formerly ChampionX) is seeking a Field Service Technician in Odessa, TX. The role involves onsite support for chemical injection pumps and tanks, performing installations, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance.

You will deliver and install equipment, work with customers, and adhere to OSHA safety procedures in a field setting. The position requires travel to customer sites, strong mechanical aptitude, and proficient use of MS Outlook and Excel.

What You Will Do:
  • This position is responsible for performing onsite customer support activities for chemical injection pumps and tanks, such as troubleshooting, installations, repair and set ups. Using company guidelines, performs onsite preventive maintenance and routine repair after installation

  • Trouble shoot and repair equipment at the field location

  • Attendance and punctuality are expected upon accepting this position

  • Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures (steeled toed shoes, safety glasses and other Personal Protective Equipment that is required must always be worn while performing job)

  • Maintain high ethical standards

  • Perform moderately complex customer support activities, including installations, routine repairs and maintenance of chemical injection pumps and accessories

  • Assemble different parts of manufactured products using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment

  • Inspect all materials, components, subassemblies, etc. to assure they meet the accepted quality standards

  • Trouble shoot and repair equipment at the field location

  • Install and troubleshoot communication equipment

  • Read and follow work instructions, work orders, production drawings and sample assemblies, or receive verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed

  • Process and submit customer service transactions such as service tickets accurately

  • Provide accurate and timely information regarding availability of in-stock items

  • Answer basic inquiries from customers providing basic technical product and applications support

  • Refers customers to local sales representative for further sales & service requests

  • Drive a company vehicle and makes deliveries to customer locations

  • Obtains signatures for deliveries made, as required

  • Work alone and/or under general supervision

  • Develop good working relationships with customers through frequent and professional written and verbal communication

  • Communicate professionally & effectively with customers when delivering both good and bad information

  • Know and complies with all safety policies and procedures

  • Work unconventional hours and potentially weekends to provide our required level of service on occasion

  • Attend work in predictable and regular manner

  • Participate in Lean events with active involvement in CI initiatives

  • Report unsafe acts or conditions to supervision immediately as noticed

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Must have a valid DOT Medical Certification Card

Position Details:
  • Candidates must reside in: Odessa, Texas or surrounding area

  • Work week and shift: 7AM to 4PM, Monday through Friday.

  • Overtime: Some daily overtime and weekend work may be required, not to exceed 14 hours daily

  • Compensation package offered: Competitive hourly rate and quarterly bonus eligibility

  • New hire orientation is provided

  • On the job training on processes, procedures, and product assembly

  • Immigration sponsorship is not provided for this position

  • PPE: Company provides all required PPE and includes reimbursement for steel toes shoes and prescription safety glasses

Physical Demands:
  • Role is deemed safety sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug and alcohol testing.

  • Minimal ladder climbing, stair climbing, twisting, stretching, collating/filing and using a keyboard up to 10%.

  • Occasional squatting, walking and writing between 11% and 33%.

  • Frequent crouching, kneeling, reaching, and dialing between 33% and 66%.

  • Constant bending, lifting up to 40lbs, pushing, pulling, handling, holding, grasping, turning with hands, fingering including picking pinching and fine manipulation, sitting, standing, driving, seeing, hearing and speaking greater than 66%.

Work Environment:
  • Regular field work in outdoor conditions.

  • Onsite at customer field operations

  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment at all times as required

  • May be exposed to hazards including chemical, electric shock, fluids, and waste materials

  • Working with moving mechanical parts and power tools

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Basic knowledge of industrial safety, proper hand and power tool use, and other motorized material movement equipment

  • Proficient in MS Outlook and Excel

  • High mechanical aptitude

  • High accuracy in data entry

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers and various levels of management.

  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills with a high level of persistency in meeting delivery schedules

  • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Must be able to travel daily away from the shop daily.

  • Speak, read, and write English fluently

  • Follow all safety policies and company-wide safety requirements

  • Predictably and regularly attend work and be punctual

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High level of analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Vocational/Technical training or certification, or equivalent experience.

  • 5 years of experience performing moderately complex installations independently and or in teams.

  • 5 years of experience in strong customer service relations, including the ability to explain and train.
