Job summary

Doble Engineering seeks a Field Service Technician to provide on-site maintenance and technical support for high voltage test equipment at customer locations worldwide. You will troubleshoot malfunctions, conduct scheduled repairs, and document service visits with detailed reports.

The role is based at the Accident, MD office and reports to the Service Manager. Travel to domestic and international locations is required, with focus on calibration and preventative maintenance tasks.

Job description

A Field Service Technician at Doble Engineering will provide maintenance and technical support for Doble equipment at customer locations, including domestic and international locations. This role identifies and troubleshoots malfunctions and will conduct scheduled repairs. This role will be required to develop detailed service reports to document service visits and troubleshooting actions and logs to track maintenance activity. This role will be based at our Accident, MD office and will report to the Service Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • On-site analysis and repair of high voltage, high current test equipment with telephone/web-based assistance from Technician II and above. Troubleshoot system faults on relay, PLC, and microprocessor-controlled equipment with assistance. Remove and replace system components to accomplish repair. Modify Programmable Logic Controller programs under the direction of the assigned Automation Engineer. Operationally check equipment after repair for serviceability.
  • On-site Calibration and Preventative Maintenance Service. Use voltage and current supplies, kilovoltmeters, multi-meters, potential transformers, current transformers, and other equipment to calibrate high voltage, high current test equipment. Perform preventative inspection and basic lubrication of equipment.
  • Prepare and deliver quotations for varying customer service quote requests. Prepare quotations for stock parts and services.
  • Telephone Support. Communicate with customers to attain information about system performance, repair request, and other customer needs. Document communications on appropriate systems for further action.
  • Responsible for direct interaction with the customer.
  • Communicate with customers to know equipment configuration, maintenance status and coordinate final scheduling.
  • Replaces faulty stock components on delivered test equipment with approval of Technician II and above.
  • Make modifications to systems after acceptance and with assistance from Service or Design Engineer.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
  • Associates Degree in electrical technology, electronics, or equivalent training.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 0-1 Years Experience
  • Proper use of electrical test equipment to include oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and signal generators.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel.
  • Ability to professionally communicate with customers.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required):
  • Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers.
  • Experience with high voltage, high current test equipment
  • Experience with Partial Discharge Systems.
  • Familiar and comfortable with international travel.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Ability to travel to world-wide locations; passport required.
  • Ability to work independently.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers, and customers. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job. Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds. Must use assistance when lifting 50 or more pounds.

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
Hourly Pay Range Minimum $20.78 - Midpoint $25.98
