Job summary

Total Fire Protection is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform maintenance, inspection, and repair of fire extinguishers at client sites nationwide. You will ensure devices are in safe working condition and compliant with applicable safety codes, delivering first-class service.

As a Field Service Technician specializing in Fire Extinguisher and Life Safety, you will be responsible for providing maintenance, inspection, and repair services for fire extinguishers representing Total Fire Protection. Your primary goal will be to ensure that fire extinguishers are in proper working condition and compliant with relevant safety regulations. This position requires a strong knowledge of fire extinguisher types, components, and servicing procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspections of fire extinguishers according to established schedules and standards.
  • Conduct thorough examinations of extinguishers to identify any defects, damages, or signs of wear.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, and maintenance activities for each extinguisher.
  • Conduct servicing and recharging of fire extinguishers to ensure they are fully functional and ready for use.
  • Ensure that all serviced fire extinguishers meet relevant fire codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Update and maintain accurate records of services provided, including dates, details, and any necessary corrective actions.
  • Communicate inspection findings and recommendations to clients or internal stakeholders.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with clients while on-site, addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Provide knowledgeable advice and guidance regarding fire extinguisher maintenance, usage, and safety practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as sales or customer support, to coordinate service requests and resolve issues.
  • Stay up to date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to fire extinguisher servicing.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
  • Share expertise and knowledge with colleagues to contribute to a culture of continuous learning.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in fire safety is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a field service technician or in a similar role, preferably within the fire and life safety industry.
  • Solid understanding of different fire extinguisher types, their components, and servicing requirements.
  • Familiarity with relevant safety codes, regulations, and standards (e.g., NFPA, OSHA).
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple service calls efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with clients and internal teams.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to lift and carry heavy equipment when necessary.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to safety protocols.
