As a leading water technology company with 23,000 employees operating in over 150 countries, Xylem is at the forefront of addressing the world’s most critical water challenges. We invite passionate individuals to join our team, dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through innovative and sustainable solutions.

Field Service Technician
Keep Critical Operations Running. Work With Purpose.

At Xylem, we don’t just move water — we solve the world’s toughest water challenges. As a Fortune 500 global water technology company, our work keeps communities, infrastructure, and essential services running worldwide. Behind that impact are skilled technicians who keep systems operating safely and reliably. That’s where you come in.

Why This Role Matters

As a Field Service Technician, you play a vital role in maintaining and repairing critical pumping and wastewater‑handling equipment that customers rely on every day. This isn’t just equipment maintenance — it’s work that protects communities and supports essential water and wastewater operations.

You’ll work independently, problem‑solve on the spot, and take pride in being the expert customers trust.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll service, troubleshoot, and support a variety of Xylem equipment — both in our shop and at customer sites:

  • Diagnose and repair pumps, diesel engines, electrical systems, control panels, and wastewater pumping units.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and testing to ensure equipment is job‑ready between rentals.
  • Assist customers with setup and installation of pumping systems — including wastewater bypass systems — on job sites.
  • Use computerized diagnostic tools to evaluate performance and identify issues.
  • Inspect returned equipment, identify damage, and report findings to the Service Manager.
  • Participate in a weekly on‑call rotation for after‑hours service needs.

You’ll regularly work with wastewater pumps, bypass systems, and field environments — supporting municipal, industrial, and construction applications.

Location & Travel
  • Location: Mokena, Illinois
  • Travel: Local/regional to customer sites
  • Work mix: In‑shop + in‑field
  • On‑call rotation: Required, supporting after‑hours emergencies
What We Offer

  • 20 days PTO from the start and paid holidays
  • Generous retirement savings plan
  • Customizable health, dental and vision insurance (eligible on first date)
  • Career progression plans
  • Reward and recognition programs
  • Paid parental leave
Who Thrives in This Role
  • Enjoys hands‑on mechanical, electrical, and diesel troubleshooting
  • Works well independently and takes ownership
  • Is reliable, safety‑minded, and customer‑focused
  • Takes pride in representing a global water technology leader
  • Is comfortable working around wastewater systems and fieldwork environments
What You Bring
  • Experience in diesel, electrical, mechanical, industrial, or pump troubleshooting
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics
