Job summary

Wheeler Machinery Co. in Moab, UT seeks a full-time Field Service Technician to repair and maintain Caterpillar engines and equipment at customer sites outside of the shop.

You will use safety tooling, diagnostic software, and time-tracking tools to complete tasks. The role requires a high school diploma, journeyman level or 5 years of experience, a clean driving record, and the ability to climb, troubleshoot electrical/hydraulic systems, and read manuals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Journeyman level shop technician or 5 years equivalent experience.
• Flawless motor vehicle driving record.
• Able to repair engines, including Tier 4 Final systems, perform engine failure analysis and fuel/lubrication system repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems.
• Remove/install/test/adjust powertrain systems.
• Able to safely climb on equipment.
• Computer literacy and basic tooling proficiency.
• Writing and grammar skills.

Responsibilities

• Input repair information and utilize diagnostic software.
• Operate forklifts, cranes, and heavy equipment safely.

• Contribute to improvements and participate in team activities.

Job description

Wheeler is seeking a full-time Field Service Technician in Moab, UT. The Field Service Technician performs repairs and maintenance on all models of Caterpillar engines, equipment, and dealer support equipment at assigned field locations outside of the shop. This role works safely and uses the appropriate tools and software to complete assigned tasks.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Follow the Safety Program to prevent injury and accidents, using safety tooling, attending safety meetings, always wearing proper PPE, seeking out and controlling workplace hazards.
• Conduct repairs on assigned jobs for all makes and models of equipment.
• Contribute positively to the team environment; being a team player, self-starter, driven, positive, willing to learn, humble, responsible
• Attend all team meetings.
• Operate forklifts safely.
• Properly and safely operate truck equipped cranes.
• Properly and safely operate heavy equipment.
• Clean and organize assigned truck and equipment.
• Utilize job related software; including but not limited to; SIS, CAT ET, DBS, ServiceLink, and Time Collection.
• Input repair information.
• Utilize diagnostic software.
• Be able to properly and accurately use precision measuring instruments.
• Track work hours.
• Complete service reports.
• Order necessary parts to compete the job correctly.
• Contribute to improvement initiatives, submitting process improvement ideas.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Able to safely climb up and down equipment.
• Computer and technological literacy.
• Basic hand tooling and drive tooling up to ¾”.
• Writing and grammar skills.
