DataField Technology Services is seeking a highly skilled Low-Voltage CCTV Technician for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity on-site in Mentor, OH. You will diagnose, repair, and program complex IP CCTV networks and VMS, acting as the technical face of the company in the field.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of hands-on CCTV experience, strong NEC knowledge, and the ability to read blueprints and schematics. Independent problem-solving and customer-focused service are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience installing, programming and troubleshooting IP/Analog CCTV cameras and VMS.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC and local codes related to low-voltage camera installations.
  • Ability to read blueprints, riser diagrams and technical schematics.

Responsibilities

  • System Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: diagnose and resolve faults across IP/analog CCTV networks.
  • CCTV & Video Management: install, aim, and configure cameras, NVRs/DVRs and integrate VMS (Milestone/ExacqVision/Genetec).
  • System Restoration & Configuration: repair or replace defective cameras and recording devices; test circuits.
  • Network Integration: assign IPs and configure network settings for seamless communication.
  • Client Consultation: act as the field face, delivering technical solutions and professional service.
  • Documentation: complete service tickets and site logs accurately and timely.
  • Stakeholder Communication: share system statuses and project updates with clients and team.

Description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and autonomous Low-Voltage CCTV Technician for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity with our client.

In this dynamic, field-based role, you will serve as the technical expert and face of the company, responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and programming complex video surveillance networks. Your day-to-day will involve expert-level troubleshooting, system configuration, and seamless integration of IP CCTV networks and Video Management Systems (VMS).

The ideal candidate is a dedicated problem-solver with a strong background in low-voltage electrical systems, basic IT/networking principles, and a working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
  • System Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Perform expert-level troubleshooting of complex low-voltage systems. Rapidly identify and resolve ground faults, open circuits, and communication errors across IP and analog CCTV networks.
  • CCTV & Video Management: Install, aim, and focus IP/analog cameras (including PTZ). Configure NVRs/DVRs, optimize video storage, adjust frame rates, and seamlessly integrate Video Management Systems (VMS) like Milestone, ExacqVision, or Genetec.
  • System Restoration & Configuration: Repair, replace and configure defective camera hardware and recording devices. Terminate wires, test circuits, and ensure video systems are functioning at 100% capacity.
  • Network Integration: Assign IP addresses, configure network settings, and ensure seamless communication between camera hardware, recording devices and head-end software.
  • Client Consultation: Serve as the face of the company in the field. Provide honest, highly technical solutions to client problems while maintaining a professional appearance and building customer trust.
  • Documentation: Complete required service tickets, site logs and material usage reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate technical information, system statuses and project updates with clients, project managers and customer service staff.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Technical Mastery: Deep understanding of low-voltage circuits, relays and multi-meter usage. Highly proficient in configuring IP-based video surveillance devices and troubleshooting complex system integrations.
  • Code & Compliance Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes as they relate to low-voltage camera installations.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to easily read, interpret and work from blueprints, riser diagrams and complex technical schematics.
  • Autonomy & Problem Solving: Strong analytical abilities and sense of urgency. Must be able to independently assess a broken video system, identify the fault and execute the repair without hand-holding.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration: A dedicated team player capable of coordinating with installation teams, sales staff and IT departments to complete complex projects.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong customer service and public relations skills; excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Organization: Highly accurate detail-oriented and capable of managing your own daily service schedule efficiently.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
  • Experience: 3+ years of direct hands-on experience installing programming and troubleshooting IP/Analog CCTV cameras and Video Management Systems (VMS).
  • Low Voltage & Networking: Advanced knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems and basic IT/networking principles (IP configurations routers switches).
  • Tools: Mastery of the proper use of assorted hand tools power tools and diagnostic equipment.
