Job summary

ABB in the United States is seeking a field service professional to work on-site with customers, performing commissioning, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of analytical equipment, with a hybrid work model and up to 90% travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or technical degree with 2+ years (or Associate's/HS diploma with 5+ years) of relative experience.
  • Strong technical background in startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and preventive/unplanned maintenance of analytical products.
  • Ability to build strong customer relationships and work with minimal supervision; customer service oriented.
  • Willingness to travel ~90% and hold a valid passport and driver's license.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US for ABB.

  • Work with the customer on-site to identify opportunities to improve operations and reduce pain points.
  • Perform field service tasks, diagnose issues, and analyze remotely or on-site for certified products.
  • Prepare material lists and ensure availability of parts and equipment for service activities.
  • Act as trainer for field service associates and customers.
  • Commissioning/start-up, troubleshooting/repair, and preventive maintenance of analytical equipment.

This position reports to:

Service Team Leader

In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid with 90% travel required and preferred home location in Pittsburgh, PA (Home location anywhere in the state of PA, OH or MI will also be considered).

Your role and responsibilities
  • Working with the customer (while on-site) to identify opportunities to improve the customer’s operations and eliminate pain points.
  • Performing field service tasks, identifying technical issues, and performing analysis through remote or on-site activity in service categories and products for which they are certified to perform.
  • Preparing material lists needed for service activity and ensuring that all materials, parts, and equipment are available and of appropriate quality for service activities.
  • Acting as trainer when needed, for field service associates and customers.
  • Responsibilities also include performing commissioning/start-up services, troubleshooting/repair services, and preventative maintenance on measurement and analytical equipment.

Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's or Technical Degree with 2+ Years or Associate's Degree/High School Diploma with 5+ years of relative experience
  • Strong technical background with technical skills in startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive, and unplanned maintenance of analytical products including but not limited to continuous gas analyzers and gas chromatographs
  • Ability to build strong customer relationships, to work effectively with minimum supervision, demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, and be customer service oriented
  • Strong Computer skills to include Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 90% of the time, as required. Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid passport and driver's license
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $68,600 and $109,760 annually.
