Job summary

Maverick Compressor Group is seeking a Field Service Technician to support service, maintenance, and installation of industrial air compressor systems across the Greater Houston area.

This hands-on role requires diagnosing issues quickly, performing quality repairs, and accurately documenting service reports while representing a fast-growing company known for expert service and getting the job done right the first time.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in air compressors, HVAC, industrial maintenance, or similar field.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Experience with diagnostics and troubleshooting (not just parts swapping).
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Strong work ethic and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on air compressors and dryers.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and system issues.
• Complete installations of compressors, dryers, and air systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical components, including starters, VFDs, and controls.
• Complete service reports and documentation accurately.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional job site.

Job description

Maverick Compressor Group is hiring a Field Service Technician to support service, maintenance, and installation of industrial air compressor systems across the Greater Houston area. This role is for a hands-on, skilled technician who can diagnose issues quickly, perform quality repairs, and represent a company that prides itself on fast response, expert service, and getting the job done right the first time. You will work on a wide range of equipment including rotary screw compressors, refrigerated dryers, oil-free systems, and associated controls and piping systems.

What You'll Do

• Perform preventative maintenance on air compressors and dryers
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and system issues
• Complete installations of compressors, dryers, and air systems
• Troubleshoot electrical components, including starters, VFDs, and controls
• Service refrigerated air dryers and condensate systems
• Work on oil-flooded and oil-free compressor systems
• Perform system diagnostics and root cause analysis
• Communicate findings and recommendations to customers clearly
• Complete service reports and documentation accurately
• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional job site

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years experience in air compressors, HVAC, industrial maintenance, or similar field
• Strong understanding of:
• Electrical systems (single & three-phase)
• Mechanical systems and rotating equipment
• Experience with diagnostics and troubleshooting (not just parts swapping)
• Ability to work independently in the field
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Strong work ethic and reliability

Bonus if you have:

• Experience with brands like Sullair, Atlas Copco, Quincy, Kaeser, Ingersoll Rand
• Refrigeration certification or experience
• Pipefitting or compressed air system install experience
• Hourly Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 (based on experience)

Schedule

• Monday - Friday
• Occasional overtime and emergency service as needed on a rotational schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical systems, equipment maintenance, and repairs
• Familiarity with air compressors, pneumatic systems, and electrical diagnostics
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and critical-thinking skills
• Effective communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
• Capability to work independently in an on-site environment
• Physical ability to lift equipment and stand for extended periods
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus
• Experience in industrial/commercial equipment servicing is preferred
