The Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing air compressor systems at client locations. This role requires strong technical skills, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. The technician plays a key role in ensuring equipment performance, minimizing downtime, and enhancing customer satisfaction through expert-level service and communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair issues with air compressor systems at customer sites.
- Perform preventative and routine maintenance, including filter changes, lubrication, and inspections.
- Install and configure new systems to meet manufacturer and client specifications.
- Respond to emergency repair requests promptly and efficiently.
- Communicate clearly with clients to assess issues, explain repairs, and provide system recommendations.
- Address customer concerns and ensure complete satisfaction through professional service and follow-up.
- Complete accurate service reports detailing diagnostics, repairs, parts used, and time spent.
- Maintain records of service history and work performed for reference and compliance.
- Manage tools and part inventory required for service work.
- Ensure all service vehicles and tools are properly stocked and maintained.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and maintenance practices.
- Support project execution by anticipating needs and collaborating with clients and internal teams.
- Participate in the on-call rotation for emergency service needs.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or field service roles.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with mechanical systems.
- Basic knowledge of air compressors, pneumatics, or industrial equipment (or willingness to learn).
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in varying environmental conditions.
- Proficient with hand and power tools; must supply own basic hand tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable with travel and overnight stays as required.
Preferred
- Technical certification or vocational training in mechanical or electrical systems.
- Experience with air compressor systems or industrial maintenance.
- Familiarity with safety and OSHA standards.
- Experience using service management software (e.g., Salesforce, NetSuite).
