Voltguard Utilities Limited is seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Technician to join our team. The role involves providing comprehensive on‑site technical support, maintenance, and training services across various client locations, both indoor and outdoor. The ideal candidate will work independently with minimal supervision while delivering top‑tier service and support that aligns with project objectives and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Site Travel and Service Provision:
    • Travel to customer, vendor, and supplier facilities, including both indoor and outdoor sites.
    • Provide field service in customer sites within the designated territory, with regular travel across the United States as needed.
    • Ensure timely and efficient response to service calls, managing workloads to meet service deadlines.
  2. Technical Training:
    • Deliver comprehensive on‑site technical training to clients on the operation, repair, and maintenance of our products and solutions.
    • Educate clients on best practices, safety procedures, and regular maintenance schedules to maximize equipment uptime.
  3. Collaboration with Engineering Teams:
    • Work closely with in‑house engineering teams, technicians, and third‑party vendors to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
    • Participate in collaborative efforts to optimize system performance and identify areas for improvement.
  4. Preventative Maintenance and Repairs:
    • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance services to ensure consistent equipment performance and reduce the likelihood of unplanned downtime.
    • Inspect and adjust equipment according to manufacturer specifications and customer production schedules.
  5. Departmental Representation and Project Oversight:
    • Represent the Technical Department in inter‑departmental meetings, providing insights and updates on service operations, client needs, and ongoing projects.
    • Monitor project progress, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and customer expectations.
    • Independently perform technical and engineering tasks, maintaining high‑quality standards and adherence to project objectives.
  6. Travel Requirements:
    • Undertake short‑term travel assignments as necessary, with up to 40% domestic and international travel.
    • Travel to multiple locations to support project development, installation, and commissioning.
  7. Troubleshooting:
    • Diagnose and resolve system/equipment interface problems during installations using applicable drawings and tools.
  8. Documentation:
    • Ensure all necessary documentation is accurate and complete for work performed, and that all systems are updated to reflect the current status against the daily work plan.
Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Field Service Technician, ideally within the utilities, energy, or electrical engineering sectors.
  • Strong technical skills in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating effective time management and problem‑solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly, sometimes on short notice.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in providing technical training and customer support.
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards and compliance requirements.

Additional Information:
• This role requires daily commuting to and from client locations, with a focus on delivering responsive and reliable service.
• The position offers opportunities for professional development and career growth, with exposure to diverse project environments.
• This position requires to work 90% of the time in the field, but mostly will travel for short trips (2 to 4 days during the week). Only twice a year it might be required to be away for 3 weeks at a time.
