Job summary

SMP Engineering is a highly specialized product design and manufacturing automation company serving the mil/aero market. We are looking for an engineer who can prepare or read schematics, fabricate and wire, and test electrical panels, motors and sensors for industrial CNC machinery and manufacturing automation.

You will be an integral member of the electrical team, working alongside both electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure that our custom machinery functions reliably and safely.

Qualifications

• Experience reading schematics and wiring panels.
• Ability to mount components to panels and enclosures.
• Experience with CNC machinery.
• Ability to route and bundle wires neatly to standards.
• Experience with point-to-point wiring of relays, PLCs, I/O modules, VFDs.
• Maintain redline drawings and communicate changes.
• Strong communication and teamwork.
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare or read schematics, fabricate and wire, and test electrical panels, motors and sensors for industrial CNC machinery and manufacturing automation.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure reliability and safety of custom machinery.
• Route and bend conduit as required and maintain wiring standards.
• Document redline changes and communicate to engineers or team leader for revisions.
• Perform related duties as assigned by management.

The Job:

We are looking for someone that can prepare or read schematics, fabricate and wire, and test electrical panels, motors and sensors for industrial CNC machinery and manufacturing automation.

Once you are here:

You will be an integral member of the electrical team working alongside both electrical and mechanical engineers ensuring that our custom machinery functions reliably and safely.

Relevant experience and mindset:

• Dimension and layout of back panels and enclosures.
• Mounting of components to back panels and enclosures.
• CNC Machine savvy.
• Routing and bundling of wire and cables neatly to meet wiring standards.
• Point to point wiring of relays, controls, PLC, I/O Modules, VFDs, Interfaces, & Instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot panels as needed to eliminate wiring errors and component malfunctions.
• Maintain red line drawing mark-ups of changes required during fabrication.
• Communicate redline changes to Engineer or Team Leader for revision prior to completion.
• Communicates effectively with all team members, leads, builders, engineers, and Project Manager.
• The ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• A high standard of quality and attention to detail.
• Routing and bending conduit.
• Schematics designing/drafting background.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
