Job summary

PTR- Precision Technologies, Inc. seeks a Field Service Technician to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electron beam welding machines both on-site and at customer locations. You will support in-house builds and service external clients, traveling to job sites as needed.

The ideal candidate has strong PLC/CNC knowledge, electrical and mechanical skills, and the ability to read blueprints and instructions. Willingness to travel and work in a fast-paced environment is essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of PLC and CNC controls, digital and linear circuits, and strong mechanical aptitude.
• Electrical systems, high voltage and complex circuitry experience beneficial.
• Experience with maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and field servicing of machinery.

Scope of Position:

The Field Service Technician is responsible for maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and manufacturing of electron beam welding machines and by helping both in-house and off-site customers by responding to their requests for service in a timely and efficient manner as well as establishing and maintaining proper business relationships with them.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of traveling to customer sites, working in-house on machine builds, and who has a knack for troubleshooting and fixing things.

This position is required to travel 75% of the time, sometimes out of the country, and requires a valid US Passport.

Requirements

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Responsible for maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and manufacturing of electron beam welding machines
• Completing Preventative Maintenance and field modifications
• Keeping up to date on administrative responsibilities such as maintaining customer service logs and internal service records in a timely manner
• Coordinate and participate in the planning, writing, and publishing an all-inclusive company proprietary troubleshooting manual
• Other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Knowledge of PLC and CNC controls, digital and linear circuits, and solid mechanical aptitude
• Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, AC and DC motor control, high voltage 480-volt circuits
• Ability to use hand tools, solder, and wire
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Excellent technical and troubleshooting skills, problem-solving abilities, and reasoning ability
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues in an easy-to-understand manner
• Able to organize documentation, both hard-copy and electronic
• Able to systematically train themselves by utilizing available in-house knowledge
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment
• Must be self-motivated and a great team worker

Education and Experience:

• Minimum of Associates Electrical Mechanical Maintenance or Similar or 5 years’ experience
• Experience or equivalent education servicing or troubleshooting CNC machine tools preferred
• Computer skills, with proficiency with MS, Word, Outlook, and Excel required
• Welding, high voltage, or vacuum technology knowledge helpful. PTR will train.
