Job summary

ZEISS in the Boston area is seeking a Field Service Technician to install, repair, troubleshoot and calibrate advanced measuring instruments at customer sites. After a ~3 month in-field and classroom training, you will travel regionally to service equipment, documenting work and maintaining records.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or technical degree, experience with hand tools and electrical test gear, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Tech School, associate, or bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Electronics, Industrial Mechanics, and the like.
  • Or, Training and experience from a Military Technical School.
  • Prior experience working with hand tools and basic electrical test equipment.
  • Microsoft operating system knowledge is required.
  • Capable of unassisted physical lift of up to 75 pounds.
  • Able and willing to work a minimum of 50 hours per work week, including OT.
  • Ability to work in an industrial production shop floor environment.
  • Valid Driver License required.

What We Are Looking For
  • Minimum high school graduate, completed GED or equivalent.
  • Or, Tech School, associate, or bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Electronics, Industrial Mechanics, and the like.

  • Prior experience working with hand tools and basic electrical test equipment.

  • Capable of unassisted physical lift of one article weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Able and willing to work minimum of 50 hours per work week. Regular + OT.
  • Ability to work in an industrial production shop floor environment.
  • Valid Driver License required.
Nice To Haves
  • Previous experience installing and troubleshooting industrial electronics, machines, or computer systems.
  • Previous CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) installation and troubleshooting experience is preferred but not required.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Base pay ranged from $53,000 – $66,000 ($25.48/hr – $31.73/hr).
  • OT: Average OT is 10 hours a week and paid out at time and half; travel time is compensated.
  • Annual bonus program: eligible for an additional bonus at the end of the year.
  • Company vehicle – can use it for personal use as well.

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, and the complexity/specialization of the role.
