Responsibilities

• Provide field service and technical support for commercial high-purity water treatment systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of water treatment systems.
• Support RO, DI, and other treatment processes; perform water quality testing.
• Read P&IDs and equipment manuals; complete service reports and documentation.
• Travel to customer sites across Maryland, DC region, and surrounding states.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to customers; ensure safety and SOP compliance.

About the Opportunity

We’re supporting a search for a Field Service Engineer with a growing water treatment systems company in the Baltimore / DC region. This role will support commercial customers across healthcare, biotech, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, industrial, and government environments. The Field Service Engineer will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, water quality testing, and occasional startup and commissioning work on high-purity water treatment systems.

What You’ll Do

You’ll provide field service and technical support for commercial high-purity water treatment systems throughout the region.

Key areas of focus include:

• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of water treatment systems
• Support reverse osmosis systems
• Support deionization and mixed-bed systems
• Support EDI systems
• Service water softeners and pretreatment skids
• Support storage tanks, UV systems, filtration, and distribution loops
• Perform water quality testing including conductivity, resistivity, hardness, chlorine, chloramine, TOC, and microbial concerns as applicable
• Perform system sanitizations
• Perform resin and membrane exchanges
• Complete performance verifications
• Respond to emergency service calls
• Support system startups and commissioning activities
• Provide post-installation service support
• Troubleshoot pumps, motors, valves, filters, lamps, and basic instrumentation
• Assist with reading P&IDs and equipment manuals
• Complete service reports and documentation
• Communicate findings, corrective actions, and recommendations to customers
• Maintain tools, service vehicle, and work areas
• Follow safety requirements and standard operating procedures
• Travel to customer sites throughout Maryland, Washington DC, West Virginia, Northern Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Delaware

Who You Are

You are mechanically inclined, dependable, and comfortable working directly with customers in the field.

You enjoy troubleshooting, hands-on technical work, and working independently while also knowing when to elevate issues to senior technicians or the Service Manager.

Preferred Experience & Attributes

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 4-6 years of industry-relevant experience preferred
• Water treatment service experience ideal but not required
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Formal or technical training in plumbing, electrical, or mechanical systems preferred
• Plumbing and electrical experience preferred
• Experience with industrial equipment or field service environments preferred
• Understanding of instrumentation and controls
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good organizational skills
• Basic computer skills
• Self-motivated and results-oriented
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Ability to travel throughout the region
