Job summary

Valmet, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support large-scale papermaking equipment across North America.

You will perform on-site repair and preventive maintenance, troubleshoot control system programming, and generate detailed field reports with actionable improvement recommendations. The role requires a 2- or 4-year degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering or related fields, plus 3–5 years in a technical papermaking environment.

Qualifications

• PLC programming with Rockwell software knowledge a plus.

Job description

Are you a Field Service professional with a strong understanding of electrical control systems? At Valmet you'll be part of our Services team and apply your skills and experiences in programming to support the performance of the large-scale papermaking equipment at our customers facilities across North America.

Provide customer support of control systems and optimization of their functions.

Lead and perform on-site repair or preventive maintenance services at customer sites in accordance with contract requirements.

Troubleshooting of programming and software related issues.

Generate customer-focused, high quality, timely field reports with strong recommendations for improvement.

What you'll need:

A two or four-year degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Controls Engineering, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Papermaking Technology, or a related field; three to five years minimum experience in a technical role within the papermaking industry or a related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. For those with a Controls background, understanding of PLC programming with knowledge of Rockwell software a plus. Understanding of PLC programming with knowledge of Rockwell software. Knowledge of papermaking machinery a plus, but not required.
