Job summary

Liquid Environmental Solutions is seeking a Field Service Technician – OWS & Grit Specialist (CDL Class A Driver) to service commercial and industrial clients. You will operate vacuum trucks to clean oil/water separators, grit traps, and grease interceptors, following DOT and safety procedures.

This role requires physical strength, the ability to lift 55+ lbs, and a willingness to work long weeks with some on-call shifts; automatic transmission accepted; one year of driving preferred.

Qualifications

  • Valid CDL Class A is required.
  • Automatic transmission accepted – no transmission requirement.
  • One year of commercial driving experience preferred.
  • Vacuum truck experience preferred.
  • Able to lift 55+ lbs repeatedly.
  • Must pass DOT physical and be medically qualified.
  • FMCSA Clearinghouse registration prior to hire.

Responsibilities

  • Operate vacuum equipment to clean oil/water separators, grit traps, and grease interceptors.
  • Pull and manage heavy vacuum hoses over long distances and terrain.
  • Complete sludge judge readings and inspect service quality.
  • Perform line jetting for grease and OWS systems.
  • Ensure non-hazardous waste handling per protocols.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Document work via tablet-based systems and report observations.
  • Explain system issues and provide basic recommendations to customers.
  • Follow DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations; participate in on-call rotation.

Field Service Technician – OWS & Grit Specialist (CDL Class A Driver)

Compensation: $34/hr

Schedule: 6am to 6pm Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays when needed

*typical a 60 to 65 hour work week*

Position Overview

The Field Service Technician – OWS & Grit Specialist is a CDL driver responsible for providing exceptional environmental services, primarily focused on the cleaning of oil/water separators (OWS), grit traps, and grease traps for commercial and industrial clients. This role involves operating vacuum trucks, handling non-hazardous waste, and working in demanding environments that require physical strength, technical skill, and strict compliance with safety and DOT regulations.

This position is ideal for experienced vacuum truck operators or CDL drivers who want to expand into high-demand environmental work with technical and physical components.

  • Operate vacuum equipment to clean oil/water separators, grit traps, and grease interceptors according to customer specifications and company procedures.
  • Pull, position, and manage heavy vacuum hoses (50+ lbs) over long distances and variable terrain.
  • Complete sludge judge readings and perform detailed inspections for every service, noting condition, volume, and abnormalities.
  • Perform line jetting services to ensure proper flow and system maintenance for both grease and OWS systems.
  • Ensure material collected is non-hazardous and complies with company waste handling protocols.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections using electronic DVIR systems.
  • Document all work accurately in the field via tablet-based routing and inspection systems.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service while explaining basic system issues, observations, or recommendations.
  • Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations—especially in confined spaces, slippery environments, and areas with potential hydrocarbon exposure.
  • Respond to emergency service requests and participate in the on-call rotation as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid CDL Class A
  • Automatic drivers accepted – no transmission requirement
  • One year of commercial driving experience preferred (military equivalent acceptable).
  • Vacuum truck experience preferred (industrial or septic/grease).
  • Willingness and ability to work in messy, smelly, and physically challenging environments.
  • Able to lift 55+ lbs repeatedly and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must pass DOT physical and be medically qualified to operate a commercial vehicle.
  • Registered with the FMCSA Clearinghouse prior to hire.

  • Comfortable working in wet pits, oily separators, and sediment-heavy grit traps.
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable troubleshooting minor equipment issues.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to document services accurately and follow compliance procedures.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently.
  • A team player with excellent communication and a strong safety mindset.
