Job summary

Forum Energy Technologies, Inc. seeks a field service technician to install, calibrate, service, and repair production equipment at customer sites and at the manufacturing plant.

You will troubleshoot PLCs and electrical systems, interpret P&IDs, and work with minimal supervision. Travel is extensive, including overnight stays, depending on work cycles. This is a safety sensitive position that requires a high school diploma and technical training, with 5–7 years’ experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Technical training or equivalent preferred.
  • 5–7 years of experience in relevant field.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and comply with all company safety rules and regulations.
  • Travel up to 30%–100% of the workweek, including overnight stays as required.
  • Troubleshoot PLCs and other electrical systems on production equipment.
  • Commission or startup of Oil and Gas production and midstream equipment.
  • Identify, evaluate, install and repair related Oil and Gas production and midstream equipment.
  • Perform dehydration equipment cleanings and troubleshooting.
  • Read schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs; provide input from an operational viewpoint.
  • Complete documentation and reports for activities or issues found.
  • Work with minimal supervision with remote support.
  • On-the-job training of equipment; high-quality work; other duties as assigned.

Job description

Installs, calibrates, services, repairs production equipment both at the manufacturing plant and pad location. Applies knowledge and experience to troubleshooting situations and commissioning functions. Liaise back to the office reporting activities completed and issues.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Must understand and comply with all company safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform work in a professional and safe manner, report unsafe work practices
  • Must be willing to travel; approximately 30%-100% of the workweek, including overnight stays as required. This will vary greatly depending on the work cycle.
  • Electrical control understanding with the ability to troubleshoot PLC’s and other electrical systems on production equipment is preferred.
  • Experience commissioning or startup of Oil and Gas Production and Midstream equipment.
  • Able to identify, evaluate, install and repair related Oil and Gas production and Midstream equipment.
  • Experience in Dehydration equipment cleanings and trouble shooting
  • Ability to repair equipment, read schematics, wiring diagrams, P and I D’s.
  • Provide input for designs from an operational viewpoint at varies stages of the project.
  • Able to complete all documentation as required i.e. reports for activities completed/reports for issues found.
  • Work with minimal supervision with remote support.
  • Self-starter, willing to establish new connections in the industry to offer support and grow the on-site service work.
  • Capable of performing on the job training of equipment.
  • Work assignments carried out to highest quality level.
  • Perform various other duties assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and electronic controls.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Knowledge
  • High mechanical aptitude.
  • Good understanding of P and ID’s/ISO’s to be able to review piping and vessel layout to allow troubleshooting and safe working.
  • Basic knowledge of instrumentation, electronics and controls.
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Knowledge of Burner Management Systems.
  • Knowledge/experience of the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Knowledge of PLC’s and the associated logic.
  • Knowledge of Production and Midstream equipment.
  • Strong enough electrical knowledge to assist with detail design of control systems.
Education
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Technical training or the equivalent preferred.
Experience
  • 5-7 years of experience.
