The Field Service Technician II (Instrument & Electrical Technician) is responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery and electrical equipment such as ignition, governor, lubrication, and engine control systems.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  1. Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision.
  2. Install related wiring and bend conduit.
  3. Install, test, and troubleshoot digital control systems on natural gas compressors.
  4. Use hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software to troubleshoot control systems. Understand basic blueprints, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions.
  5. Maintain basic working knowledge of engine and compressor lubrication systems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit or smell. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. They are frequently exposed to wet and humid conditions, high or precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and heat. Occasionally, there is exposure to electrical shock and vibration.

Required travel up to 75%. This position is considered a safety-sensitive position. The job description may change as per employer needs.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  1. High school diploma or GED, with one or more years of related experience and/or training.
  2. Grade of 85 or higher on skill level II test and positive review of field skill assessment.
  3. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and write routine reports and correspondence.
  4. Ability to perform basic math operations and compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
  5. Ability to calculate figures such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume as required.
  6. Ability to understand and follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form, and solve problems involving concrete variables.
  7. Knowledge of database, internet, manufacturing software, and order processing systems.
  8. Clean driving record and must be at least 21 years old to operate field vehicle.
  9. Successfully complete work steps assessment.
  10. May require DOT physical, MSHA certification, and other offshore certifications.
