Job summary

Job description

Job Overview

A Field Technician assists in start‑up commissioning, integration, emergency service, and troubleshooting of Vertiv 480VAC electrical bus duct systems, including iMPB, HPB, TOB, and metering communications, as well as performing mechanical repairs and modifications. The Technician maintains excellent rapport with customers, co‑workers, and sales representatives and communicates continuously with the CRC, Supervisor, and direct manager.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in start‑up commissioning, integration, emergency service, and troubleshooting of Vertiv 480VAC iMPB, HPB, TOB, and communications.
  • Establish, promote, and maintain excellent rapport with all customers, co‑workers, sales representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Evaluate operating conditions of equipment.
  • Interact comfortably with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Self‑manage one’s work schedule.
  • Respond to emergency calls at customer’s request.
  • Aim to provide all customers with a first‑time fix for their equipment.
  • Provide accurate and timely communication to internal and external customers.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, guidelines, and laws.
  • Submit accurate and timely reporting of timecards, expense reports, and related documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • ASMET certification.
  • 1+ year of hands‑on experience in an electrical environment.
  • Basic training in electrical theory and technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical/electronic test equipment and fundamentals.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Standard computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Customer‑first mindset.
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Physical & Environmental Demands
  • Medium lifting (30–45 lbs).
  • Heavy lifting (over 50 lbs).
  • Frequent standing, kneeling, crawling, stooping, bending, and twisting.
  • Frequent climbing (stairs, ladders).
  • Frequent driving (car, van, truck).
  • Exposure to extreme cold (below 32°F) and extreme heat (above 100°F).
  • Noise level requires shouting to be heard.
  • Working around moving machinery (fork‑lifts, tractors).
  • Required protective equipment: earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask, etc.
  • Work outdoors without protection from weather.
Travel

80% travel required.

Background & Drug Test

Successful candidates must pass a drug test and a pre‑employment background check.
