Job summary

Reeder Distributors, Inc. in Gardner, KS, is seeking a mechanically skilled Field Service Technician to join our Equipment Service team.

You will travel to customer locations to inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair automotive and heavy-duty lift equipment, including both in-ground and above-ground lift systems. This full-time role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, safe work practices, and reliable communication with customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability.
• Experience in automotive repair, heavy equipment, industrial maintenance, field service, equipment repair, or a related mechanical field.
• Automotive or heavy-duty lift experience strongly preferred.
• Electrical troubleshooting experience is a plus.
• ALI Lift Inspection Certification preferred but not required.
• Forklift and OSHA certifications preferred; training may be available.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while also being part of a team.
• Verifiable work history in a related field.
• Clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime when needed.
• Safety-focused and dependable.

Responsibilities

• Service, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair lift equipment.
• Work on in-ground and above-ground lift systems.
• Diagnose mechanical and equipment issues and determine repairs.
• Repair and replace defective parts and systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections.
• Travel to customer locations for service.
• Communicate with customers about equipment concerns and work done.
• Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and service vehicles.
• Complete service documentation accurately and timely.
