Job summary

Tmeic is seeking a field service-oriented engineer to execute warranty, technical, and parts activities for our field operations in the United States. You will evaluate warranty claims, provide on-site technical support, and lead problem-solving with clients, engineers, and suppliers.

Key responsibilities include tracking warranty costs, issuing service advisories, and ensuring safety compliance while coordinating cross-functional teams. Travel up to 15% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, industrial technology, electronics technology, or related field or equivalent by education or work experience.
  • 3 years of experience in field engineering, client support, development, or testing of photovoltaic inverters.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of power conversion and distribution transformers.
  • Strong presentation skills for client and internal audiences.
  • Proven ability to build successful relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal/external contacts.
  • Proven leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in areas of responsibility.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 15%.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and process warranty requests, replacements, and claims, expediting as necessary.
  • Provide technical support and lead problem-solving with clients, engineers, and suppliers to resolve on-site issues.
  • Identify and report hardware, software, or system design deficiencies, implementing corrective actions from Field Change Notices.
  • Track monthly warranty costs for the assigned business unit and report to manager.
  • Prepare and issue Service Advises for troubleshooting to clients and field engineers.
  • Maintain current safety qualifications and comply with safety requirements.
  • Resolve supplier product failures in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Respond to client issues outside of standard business hours when necessary.
  • Investigate suggested field changes, report problems, and recommend solutions to management and parent company.

General Role Description

Role Accountabilities

  • Provide technical support and lead problem-solving efforts with clients, engineers, and suppliers to resolve on-site issues
  • Identify and report hardware, software, or system design deficiencies, implementing corrective actions from Field Change Notices

  • Prepare and issue Service Advices for trouble shooting to clients and field engineers
  • Maintain current safety qualifications and comply with company and client safety requirements

  • Investigate suggested field changes, report problems, and recommend solutions to immediate manager, BU management, and the parent company, as applicable

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, industrial technology, electronics technology, or related technical field or equivalent via education and/or work experience
  • 3 years’ experience in field engineering, client support, development, or testing of photovoltaic inverters in field or laboratory environments
  • Demonstrated knowledge of power conversion and distribution transformers
  • Demonstrated presentation skills
  • Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
  • Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook
  • Availability to travel, domestically and internationally, up to 15%, sometimes with limited notice
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of science in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field
  • Proficiency in Japanese and English languages, both oral and written
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management standards
  • Demonstrated experience in photovoltaic inverter power generation
