Thompson Machinery, a leading Caterpillar dealer in Tennessee and Mississippi, seeks a Field Service Supervisor to lead skilled service mechanics and support staff at the Memphis location. You’ll assign work, optimize schedules, and ensure safe, efficient repairs while maintaining customer communication.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of hands-on diagnostics on construction equipment, strong leadership, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of hands-on equipment diagnostics and advanced troubleshooting on construction equipment.
• Service technician training and/or equipment maintenance training preferred.
• High school diploma preferred; technical education continued.

Responsibilities

• Manage skilled service mechanics and staff at the designated location.
• Assign work, direct staff, and ensure safe, efficient repairs.
• Coordinate with customers and supervisors on service progress.
• Conduct performance reviews for the unit and manage schedules.
• Travel as needed for meetings and training (less than 15%).

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Field Service Supervisor position is responsible for managing all skilled service mechanics/technicians and support staff at the designated location. Assigns work & directs staff to ensure that safe, appropriate and efficient repairs are performed. Interacts with customers and other supervisors regarding service progress.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assigns work within company facilities and at remote field locations, helping technicians in prioritizing and locatingfield service customers.
• Coordinates contact with technicians to support parts availability and parts orders,timelycompletion of work orders, and development of work schedules.
• Interacts with individual and commercial equipment customers and with company Product Support leadership regardingservice status.
• Conduct annual performance reviews for assigned operational unit.
• Investigate & document events of work-relatedInjury and/or property damages.
• Maintain effective work, vacationand training scheduled for assigned staff.
• Submit accuratetime records related to work performed and/or hours worked.
• Respond to customer inquiries related to service.
• Able to worka flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and on-call hours asrequired.
• Must be able to travel as requiredfor meetings and training (less than 15%).
• May have to lift up to 25-30 pounds on occasion.
• May work in an environment where hazards are present.
• Requires frequent hand use for typing, operating the phone, handling materials, and other job-related tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma required, college and/or technical education preferred.
• Service Technician training and/or equipment service and maintenance training through accredited technical schools, equipment dealerships or manufacturer factory training preferred.
• Five or more years of previoushands-on equipment diagnostics and advanced troubleshooting experience working on construction equipment, including Caterpillar, JLG, Genie, and Allied.

KNOWLEDGE, TECHNICAL SKILL, & ABILITIES

• Able to learn and understand computer systems quickly.
• Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, adaptability and a strong customer service focus.
• Sense of urgency and self-initiative, and the personal drive for success.
• Excellent communication skills.
