Job summary

Sulzer is hiring a Field Mechanic in Joliet, IL, to repair and maintain pumping equipment to strict OEM and industry standards. The role requires hands-on experience, analytical skills, and the ability to travel to customer sites with occasional overtime.

The ideal candidate has five years of pump repair experience, proficiency with hand tools and precision measuring devices, and the capacity to work with limited supervision while ensuring safety and quality at every customer location.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of hand tools, precision measuring and testing equipment, and machine shop equipment.
• Minimum five years of pump repair experience.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assemble pump equipment to customer, OEM and industry specifications.
• Disassemble equipment to gain access, remove, clean and inspect components.
• Inspect and record component measurements, provide inspection reports.
• Investigate and determine root cause failure.
• Determine proper materials for repairs per BOM.
• Contour impellers and pump casings to hydraulic requirements.
• Set and operate dynamic balancing equipment.
• Perform final testing and inspections.
