Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Field Service Mechanic B to provide expert on-site maintenance and repair services at customer locations. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose and repair heavy equipment, and educate customers to avoid future breakdowns.

The role requires flexibility to be on-call and to work independently across various sites. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, own essential hand and power tools, and the ability to operate boom lifts and other

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels.
• Owns a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools for repairs.
• Experience operating and testing heavy equipment (boom lifts, forklifts, generators, hydraulics, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Maintain a consistent preventive maintenance schedule for Herc-owned fleet at long-term customer sites.
• Oversee oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and servicing.
• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment to ensure proper operating condition on job sites.
• Troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems.
• Replace worn parts to return equipment to safe operation.
• Educate customers on proper equipment use to prevent future breakdowns.
• Analyze wear and address issues until next visit.
• Adhere to safety guidelines on active jobsites.
• Keep work areas tidy and organized; produce service reports and logs.
• Build positive customer relationships and follow company procedures.
