The Field Service Mechanic independently diagnoses, repairs, and services vehicles and equipment in the field, in the shop, or at customer locations. This position removes, installs, and repairs components; performs failure analysis; and troubleshoots vehicle, heavy-equipment, and generator-engine systems, including electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, and electronic/computer applications. This role requires a strong work ethic, excellent customer service, and an ability to solve problems in a variety of service situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Excellent stamina is required. The employee regularly works on or near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. The employee may occasionally work in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is loud. Machinery/Forklift operation may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to, eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats. This position performs hands-on mechanical service in the field, shop, and customer environments. Work may require regular use of hand and power tools, working around vehicles and heavy equipment, and accessing equipment components in a variety of positions and conditions. The employee must be able to safely perform the physical tasks necessary to inspect, remove, install, diagnose, and repair equipment.
