Job summary

Environmental Management Inc. is seeking a Field Service Manager to lead commercial landscape maintenance across the Columbus Region.

You will oversee field crews, supervisors, customer relationships, equipment, safety programs, and overall operations to ensure quality, efficiency, and profitability. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong landscape maintenance knowledge, bilingual English/Spanish abilities, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in leadership in landscape maintenance or related operations.
  • Experience managing multiple crews and supervisors.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial landscape maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop 20–30 field employees and multiple Crew Leaders/Supervisors.
  • Schedule crews, equipment, and daily work assignments; monitor site inspections and budgets.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships; communicate with customers regularly.
  • Manage labor budgets and profitability metrics; identify upsell opportunities.

Field Service Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Field Service Manager to lead commercial landscape maintenance operations across the Columbus Region. This position is responsible for managing field crews, supervisors, customer relationships, equipment, safety programs, and overall operational performance.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who excels at developing teams, ensuring quality service, and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction. The Field Service Manager will oversee daily operations, manage multiple crews, monitor budgets, perform site inspections, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and profitably.

This role requires strong leadership skills, landscape maintenance expertise, bilingual communication (English/Spanish), and the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment. During the winter season, the Field Service Manager will also play a key role in supporting Snow & Ice Management operations.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and develop 20-30 field employees and multiple Crew Leaders/Supervisors.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate team members.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and excellence.
  • Resolve employee concerns and foster positive team morale.

Operations Management

  • Schedule crews, equipment, and daily work assignments.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Monitor daily production and labor performance.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.

Customer Service

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Conduct site visits and communicate regularly with customers.
  • Resolve service issues and provide proactive solutions.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and retention.

Financial & Business Performance

  • Manage labor budgets and operational costs.
  • Monitor job profitability and productivity metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for landscape enhancements and additional services.
  • Work with Account Managers and Sales teams on project proposals and upselling opportunities.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure crews receive proper training and certifications.
  • Conduct safety meetings and jobsite inspections.
  • Maintain compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

Snow & Ice Management

  • Participate in winter operations planning and execution.
  • Support emergency snow events, crew coordination, and equipment deployment.
  • Be available during weather-related operations as required.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in landscape maintenance, grounds management, or related field operations.
  • Previous experience managing multiple crews and supervisors.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial landscape maintenance practices.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (Required).

Equipment Knowledge

  • Commercial mowing equipment
  • String trimmers and edgers

  • Chainsaws and specialty landscape equipment

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly.
  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, bend, and work outdoors for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Ability to inspect job sites and occasionally assist crews in the field.
