Job summary

GenSystems Power Solutions in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Field Service Manager to lead our field service organization for gas turbine generator packages. You will oversee commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, customer training, and lifecycle services to ensure safe, reliable, and profitable field operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or related field.
  • Seven years of progressive field service/maintenance/operations leadership in industrial equipment.
  • Experience leading supervisors and field staff in a customer-facing environment.
  • Experience managing service revenue, budgets, and labor utilization.
  • Strong understanding of HSE, risk management, incident investigation, and corrective actions.

Job description

GenSystems Power Solutions is seeking an experienced Field Service Manager to lead the field service organization supporting the company’s fleet of Gas Turbine Generator packages and equipment sold to external customers.

The Field Service Manager is accountable for the safe, reliable, and profitable execution of field service operations. This leader will oversee equipment commissioning, scheduled and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, technical support, customer training, and equipment lifecycle services.

The position combines technical field leadership with business and operational management. The successful candidate will drive workforce performance, equipment reliability, customer satisfaction, service quality, revenue growth, profitability, and operational readiness.

This leader will also help develop a modern, technology-enabled service organization by using automation, digital tools, remote diagnostics, predictive maintenance, data analytics, and artificial intelligence to improve technician productivity, equipment reliability, and the customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day execution of field service operations, ensuring the safe, reliable, timely, and profitable delivery of aftermarket services.
  • Deploy field personnel, equipment, tooling, and other resources to meet customer commitments and operational objectives.
  • Own the operational and financial performance of the service organization, including safety, customer satisfaction, equipment reliability, service quality, revenue, cost, and profitability.
  • Manage service revenue, operating expenses, labor utilization, workforce capacity, and resource allocation.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and hold accountable Field Service Supervisors and Field Service Technicians.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing technical talent through structured performance management, coaching, training, and succession planning.
  • Serve as the primary operational and technical point of contact for field service execution, customer communication, escalation management, and issue resolution.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Project Management to support equipment commissioning, service delivery, and customer requirements.
  • Develop and expand aftermarket service offerings, including commissioning, maintenance programs, service agreements, technical support, customer training, equipment upgrades, and lifecycle services.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators for safety, service quality, utilization, productivity, reliability, customer satisfaction, revenue, and profitability.
  • Analyze operational and financial performance, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead equipment failure investigations, Root Cause Analysis, and corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and customer satisfaction.
  • Standardize field service processes and improve execution through automation, remote monitoring, digital technologies, data analytics, predictive maintenance, and artificial intelligence.
  • Prepare and present service performance reviews, operating plans, corrective action plans, and recommendations on staffing, equipment, technology, and organizational improvements.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least seven years of progressive field service, maintenance, operations, or technical leadership experience supporting complex industrial equipment within power generation, energy, oil and gas, manufacturing, or a related industry.
  • At least five years of experience leading supervisors and field service personnel in a customer-facing environment.
  • Demonstrated success managing field service operations, workforce performance, customer satisfaction, service quality, and financial results.
  • Experience managing service revenue, operating budgets, labor utilization, resource allocation, and cost performance.
  • Strong understanding of HSE requirements, operational risk management, incident investigation, and corrective‑action processes.
  • Experience using operational metrics, financial data, and performance indicators to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to travel to customer and field locations as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Field service leadership experience supporting gas turbine generator packages, power generation systems, rotating equipment, or other complex industrial equipment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical power generation, generators, control systems, instrumentation, and industrial mechanical systems.
  • Ability to guide technical teams through commissioning, troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, equipment recovery, and complex failure investigations.
  • Experience using CMMS, ERP, field service management platforms, remote diagnostics, predictive maintenance systems, and digital service technologies.
  • Experience implementing automation, artificial intelligence, digital tools, and data analytics within a field service or maintenance organization.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to balance customer satisfaction, operational execution, revenue growth, and profitability.
  • Proven ability to develop leaders, strengthen technical capabilities, and build a culture of accountability, innovation, safety, and customer service.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, and Project Management.
