Job description

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Perform expert-level break-fix and preventative maintenance, including diagnosing issues, dismantling devices, examining parts, adjusting, repairing, replacing defective parts, testing device performance, and reconditioning machine tools.
2. Identify and source parts, supplies, and repair items; evaluate alternatives to improve cost and reliability.
3. Independently perform maintenance according to industry standards.
4. Collaborate with customer counterparts to optimize maintenance and reliability procedures.
5. Set up and operate machining tools such as lathes, drill presses, grinders, and perform welding tasks as needed.
6. Adhere to customer codes of conduct, safety standards, and housekeeping policies.
7. Document work in service reports and management systems, including observations and equipment data.
8. Assist lower-level technicians and project teams; participate in training and development.
9. Troubleshoot and analyze complex control systems, resolving hardware/software issues.
10. Use advanced maintenance technologies to monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements.
11. Complete on-the-job training and self-study for career growth.
12. Follow all safety policies and identify unsafe conditions.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs), & Competencies:

Essential KSAs:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Associate degree with technical focus plus 10 years of related experience, or 12 years of industry experience.
• Comprehensive understanding of electrical, mechanical, fluid power, and control systems.
• Ability to use basic and specialized tools.
• Extensive travel required (local, national, international).

Desirable KSAs:

• Experience with condition-based maintenance, precise mechanical alignments, and process equipment maintenance.
• Experience with PLCs, troubleshooting field devices, and electrical drive/motor systems.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Employees must frequently stand, walk, handle objects, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate. Occasionally sit and lift/move over 50 pounds. Visual acuity and exposure to factory noise, hazardous materials, and possibly slippery floors are expected.
