Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation seeks a student intern in a hands-on role supporting startup, commissioning and maintenance of customer systems. You will help maintain drawings, assist with calibration and software commissioning, and set up operator workstations.

The position requires pursuing a STEM bachelor’s degree, a 3.0+ GPA, US work eligibility without sponsorship, and willingness to travel over 50%. Safety and documentation duties are an integral part of the role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist with startup, commissioning and re-commissioning of customer systems.
• Maintain accurate As-Built drawings and update Visio/Office documents.
• Assist in calibration using basic electronic test equipment.
• Support commissioning of software for building automation.
• Assist in setting up operator workstations and documenting progress.
• Record job progress and communicate with lead project personnel.
• Complete time sheets, expense reports, and on-site reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with startup, commission and re-commission of customer systems that utilize pneumatic / electrical / electronic technology
• Assist with maintaining accurate As-Built drawing package and making changes in Visio, Excel, Word, as required
• Assist during calibration of systems requiring basic electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters, network terminals and/or a laptop computer
• Assist in static (stand-alone) and dynamic (total building interactive network) commissioning of software programming
• Assist in the set-up of operator workstations with all associated software
• Responsible for performing job database backups daily or as advised
• Assist with turnover to service
• Track and record job progress and keep lead project personnel informed on progress
• Keep project management appraised of concerns and issues
• Complete paperwork on time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports
• Communicate with lead project personnel upon arrival and before leaving the work site

Basic Qualifications

• Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics.
• Must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
• Possess and maintain valid and current Driver’s License and be insurable by our company’s insurance carrier
• Willingness to travel more than 50% of typical work week, mostly local travel and seldomovernight hotel stay

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic understanding of control logic
• Knowledge in DDC control theory and applications pertaining to the HVAC/Control preferred.
• Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment in excess of 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs
• Prior experience in HVAC and/or Building Automation preferred

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $43,500.00 - $87,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.

Other Compensation

Thisposition may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
