Job summary

Austin Wood Recycling is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Field Service to diagnose, repair, and maintain our fleet in the field and shop. The role emphasizes safe, efficient work, uptime, and clear communication with leadership.

You will operate a service truck and travel to job sites to perform mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repairs. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in heavy equipment maintenance, with proficiency in OEM diagnostic software and a willingness to work overtime and

Qualifications

• 5+ years verifiable heavy equipment mechanic experience (field and/or shop).
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, and suspensions.
• Experience with Caterpillar, John Deere, Cummins, Mack (or comparable).
• Able to use OEM diagnostic software (John Deere, CAT, Cummins).
• Strong computer skills; maintenance management software such as AMCS.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on heavy equipment (loaders, excavators, grinders, etc).
• Operate a service truck and travel to sites to complete field repairs.
• Inspect equipment, identify additional issues, and recommend parts and actions.
• Read manuals, diagrams, and schematics; follow OEM diagnostic trees to identify root causes.
• Document work in AMCS and provide updates to supervisor.
