Job summary

Austin Wood Recycling is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Field Service to diagnose, repair, and maintain our heavy equipment fleet in the field and shop. You will operate a service truck, travel to job sites, and use OEM diagnostic software to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.

The role requires 5+ years of relevant experience, tool ownership, and the ability to work in both field and shop environments, with overtime and occasional overnight travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of verifiable heavy equipment mechanic experience (field and/or shop).
• Experience troubleshooting engines, hydraulics, brakes, and suspensions.
• Experience with Caterpillar, John Deere, Cummins, Mack or comparable equipment.
• Ability to use OEM diagnostic software (John Deere, CAT, Cummins).
• Strong computer skills; maintenance management software (AMCS) experience.
• Rebuild skills are a plus.
• Must have own tools.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on heavy equipment.
• Operate a service truck and travel to sites for field repairs.
• Inspect equipment and recommend actions and parts.
• Read manuals and schematics for troubleshooting.
• Document work updates using AMCS and report progress to supervisor.
