This is an important and challenging position requiring a highly skilled, multi-tasking individual who can work independently to assist our service partners and customers. You will have strong mechanical and electronic expertise and serve as an escalation resource for complex troubleshooting and customer issues to include repair, overhaul, and installation of a variety of Volvo Penta marine and/or industrial products. You will also develop service capabilities in our dealer base including new technologies such as electromobility, connectivity, and remote diagnostics. This position serves the full range of products for both industrial and marine segments and reports to the Manager Field Service.

The area of responsibility will be aligned with a defined U.S. territory. The territory in the west we are seeking support for is closest to Arizona and Nevada. Proximity to a major airport is important to enable efficient travel to customer and dealer locations, as well as to our office in Chesapeake, Virginia
Serve as a technical resource and escalation point for complex applications, troubleshooting, and repair issues for both industrial and marine engines and solutions
Respond to advanced technical inquiries via phone, through case management, and on-site service when required
Act as a liaison between our dealer base, customers, technical support and quality teams
Lead investigations into product complaints, failures, and reported safety incidents, documenting findings and driving resolution through our case management system and quality systems.
Provide structured feedback loops with Technical Support and Competence Development teams, sharing insights on recurring technical issues and capability gaps
Support failure analysis, data acquisition, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Promote a continuous improvement mindset in field service activities, coordinating closely across functions and incorporating feedback from customers and dealers
Assist with development and rollout of service bulletins, OEM communications, and support campaigns.
Promote consistent use of Volvo Penta digital tools including VPPN and case management.
Support trade shows, product events, and customer meetings as required
Mentor technical support specialists acting as a technical and professional role model
Develop and implement support processes for emerging technologies, including electrification and hybrid systems; alternative fuels; connectivity and remote diagnostics
Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, industrial technology, or related technical field or the appropriate equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum 8 years of experience in engine OEM, distributor, or dealer service environments.
Proven expert-level knowledge of industrial and marine engine systems, diagnostics, controls, and repair practices. Experience with Volvo Penta products preferred.
Working knowledge of warranty processes, dealer operations, and industrial trade practices.
Experience and/or certifications in emerging powertrain technologies (electrification, alternative fuels, hybrid systems, connectivity, remote diagnostics) preferred.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all levels of employees, leaders, customers, suppliers, partners, and other stakeholders
Advanced communication and presentation skills in both US and global contexts
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English. Bilingual (English plus Spanish, Swedish, etc.) a plus

This role is intended to be field based with responsibility for a defined US territory; candidates must live within reasonable distance of a major airport. On-site candidates based in Chesapeake, Virginia may also be considered.
Travel Requirement: Up to 50% travel, mostly domestic with some international.

For this position, the base pay is set at $83,500 - $103,100 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
