Job Description Summary

The Service unit of GE Grid Solutions is currently seeking a HVDC-FACTS field specialist. Reporting directly to the Head of Service Field HVDC-FACTS, the incumbent will be responsible, in collaboration with the client and the engineering group, for ensuring the commissioning of HVDC-FACTS systems and providing support equipment. The role also involves training and supporting colleagues and the client's employees in these tasks. The specialist must be available 24/7 for emergency support.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Resource planning, equipment, and time management for commissioning, repair, or construction.
  • Manage workers, customers, and site switching.
  • Perform commissioning tests.
  • Prepare progress reports, test results, and non-compliance reports.
  • Annotate and edit drawings as built.
  • Draft technical procedures.
  • Provide operation and maintenance documentation and support to customers and internal teams.
  • Assist in technical submissions.
  • Analyze and propose solutions for issues concerning GE discontinued products, including testing and industrialization.
  • Develop inspection criteria collaboratively with customers and engineering teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical degree in electrical engineering with specialization in HVDC-FACTS or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of field experience in substation commissioning.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 75% of the time.

Desired Characteristics

  • Good communication skills with clients and team members.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical and electronic power equipment.
  • Fluency in English (mandatory); French is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office Suite.
  • Analytical mindset and leadership qualities.

The salary range is USD 98,400 to USD 164,000 annually, influenced by experience, education, and location, with eligibility for performance bonuses. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, retirement plans, tuition assistance, and more.
