Job summary

Sartorius North America is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, calibrate, maintain, and repair laboratory instruments across the Midwest. The role covers Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa, with ideal residency in Kansas City.

You will build strong customer relationships during on-site visits and remote coordination. The position emphasizes troubleshooting, calibration expertise, and professional collaboration in a dynamic, field-based environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a technical field or HS Diploma with relevant technical certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of field service, maintenance, instrumentation, or related technical experience.
  • Experience calibrating balances, scales, moisture analyzers, or similar laboratory instruments.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain technical equipment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a field-based environment.

Responsibilities

Job description

At Sartorius, you'll play a critical role in helping our customers keep essential laboratory equipment operating at peak performance. As a Field Service Engineer, you'll serve as a trusted technical partner, delivering installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair services while building long-term customer relationships throughout the Midwest territory. This is a field-based position covering Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa. Ideal candidate will reside in Kansas City.

What you will accomplish together with us:
  • Deliver exceptional service and technical support during customer site visits.

  • Perform installation, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of balances and moisture analyzers.

  • Diagnose equipment issues and provide effective, timely solutions to minimize customer downtime.

  • Maintain accurate service documentation, reports, and records.

What will convince us
  • Associate degree in a technical field, or High School Diploma/GED with relevant technical certification.

  • Minimum 2 years of field service, maintenance, instrumentation, or related technical experience.

  • Experience calibrating balances, scales, moisture analyzers, or similar laboratory instruments preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain technical equipment.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.

  • Effective communication and customer service skills.

  • Proficiency with mobile applications, digital reporting tools, and Microsoft Office products.

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory.
