A Day in the Life

The Field Service Engineer is the primary technical representative for Medtronic Cardiac Ablation Solutions Affera customers, as well as sales and clinical teams. The FSE is responsible for technical assessment, installation, support, servicing, maintenance, and de-installation of all Affera systems at customer sites. They work closely with Field Service and Technical Service teams to coordinate feedback with Marketing, Quality, Production, and Engineering to evaluate product performance. This role may also involve providing technical assistance during clinical procedures.

Additional Information
  • Location: Reside within 30 minutes of a reasonably sized airport in NY/CT/MA/NJ/Eastern PA.
  • Territory: Support includes New England, PA, MD, VA, Delaware, with additional travel across the country as needed.
  • Travel: Over 75%, including overnight.
  • Equipment: Work on Cardiac Ablation Solutions Affera platform and future systems, including mapping and navigation.
Responsibilities
  • Perform installations, inspections, verification, troubleshooting, and maintenance of CAS Affera systems.
  • Maintain technical records and documentation as per regulations.
  • Share field experiences with colleagues and update databases.
  • Contribute to service process improvements and develop/update service documentation.
  • Provide input for product upgrades and participate in technical training for partners and customer representatives.
  • Assist in the introduction of new products through design discussions.
  • Analyze technical data for trends related to Affera products.
  • Participate in special projects as directed.
  • Provide technical training to physicians, EP technicians, and managers at customer sites.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 years of technical, clinical field service, internship, or customer support experience.
Nice to Have
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose medical equipment problems using engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Strong time management and detail orientation.
  • Willingness to travel frequently, possibly internationally.
  • Ability to work independently and with customers, developing confidence and satisfaction.
