Job summary

JST Manufacturing in Idaho seeks a skilled service engineer to troubleshoot and resolve complex semiconductor wet processing equipment issues. You will analyze failures, interpret schematics, and lead startup/qualification of high-value systems, while collaborating with customers to optimize performance.

You will also develop innovative solutions for equipment modifications, document findings, and provide expert guidance on upgrades and process improvements in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Associate Science degree in Engineering or related technical field; OR
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical), Mathematics, Chemistry, or related field; OR
• Equivalent combination of specialized technical education and extensive field experience (minimum 5 years)

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex system failures using advanced diagnostic techniques and engineering principles
• Interpret technical specifications, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and engineering drawings to diagnose non-routine problems
• Apply engineering knowledge to develop innovative solutions for equipment modifications and process improvements
• Lead startup and qualification of complex automated wet bench systems worth 500K−5M+
• Program and troubleshoot PLC systems using ladder logic and advanced control algorithms
• Validate system performance against SEMI standards and customer specifications
• Serve as primary technical consultant to customers on equipment operation and optimization
• Create technical reports analyzing equipment performance and recommending design improvements

Education

Associate Science degree in Engineering or related technical field

Job Summary

Apply advanced technical knowledge to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex semiconductor wet processing equipment issues. Performs system integration, startup, commissioning, and qualification of sophisticated automated wet bench systems. Provides expert technical consultation to customers and exercises independent judgment in developing solutions to non-routine technical challenges.

What You'll do

1. Analyze complex system failures using advanced diagnostic techniques and engineering principles
2. Interpret technical specifications, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and engineering drawings to diagnose non-routine problems
3. Apply engineering knowledge to develop innovative solutions for equipment modifications and process improvements
4. Lead startup and qualification of complex automated wet bench systems worth 500K−5M+
5. Program and troubleshoot PLC systems using ladder logic and advanced control algorithms
6. Validate system performance against SEMI standards and customer specifications
7. Serve as primary technical consultant to customers on equipment operation and optimization
8. Provide expert recommendations on equipment upgrades, retrofits, and process improvements
9. Create technical reports analyzing equipment performance and recommending design improvements
10. Collaborate with engineering teams to improve product design based on field insights
11. Perform point-to-point wiring and soldering according to engineering specifications
12. Assemble and bundle electrical wiring in organized, accessible manner with proper labeling
13. Install and assemble valves, fittings, and plumbing components to achieve leak-tight connections
14. Weld various plastic materials including PVC-C, PVDF, and Halar using specialized techniques
15. Identify and work with electrical components including relays, controllers, switches, motors, pumps, drives
16. Operate power tools safely including drill motors, soldering equipment, multi-meters, crimpers, stud weld guns
17. Maintain clear communication channels between customers and factory personnel
18. Document all service activities, schematic changes, and blueprint modifications

Qualifications

• Associate Science degree in Engineering, Technology, Electronics, Semiconductor Manufacturing, or related technical field; OR
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical), Mathematics, Chemistry, or related scientific field; OR
• Equivalent combination of specialized technical education and extensive field experience in semiconductor equipment, automation systems, or precision manufacturing (minimum 5 years)

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or related scientific discipline
• Experience with semiconductor processing equipment, PLCs, or automated systems
• Professional certifications or specialized training in relevant technical areas
