Job summary

Quanta US is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support customers across the Midwest. The role focuses on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and technical support of CNC industrial equipment at customer facilities.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of CNC/machine tool experience and a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, including HMIs and diagnostics. Travel within the Midwest is expected, with independence in field work and strong customer

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in CNC machinery, machine tools, industrial maintenance, or field service.
• Experience as CNC Maintenance Technician, CNC Service Technician, Field Service Technician/Engineer, CNC Machine Operator, or similar.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
• Experience troubleshooting and servicing CNC machinery or related industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure new machinery and equipment at customer facilities.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and equipment upgrades.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues.
• Interpret machine alarms and use diagnostic tools/software to identify problems.
• Work with HMIs, machine alarms, diagnostics, and software updates.
• Perform software updates and equipment adjustments as required.
• Complete hands-on mechanical work, including equipment modifications and machine interfacing.
• Replace components and parts to minimize customer downtime.
• Provide technical training to machine operators and maintenance personnel.
• Maintain detailed service documentation and reports through the company CRM.
• Communicate professionally with customers and provide updates throughout service visits.
• Work independently in the field while collaborating with the broader technical service team.

Job description

We are partnering with a global manufacturer of advanced automation equipment and CNC machine tool accessories to identify a Field Service Engineer to support customers throughout the Midwest. The company designs and manufactures highly engineered equipment used alongside CNC lathes and other machine tools in industrial manufacturing environments.

This is a hands-on, customer-facing position responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and technical support of industrial machinery at customer facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and configure new machinery and equipment at customer facilities

Ideal Background

• Approximately 5+ years of experience within CNC machinery, machine tools, industrial maintenance, or field service
• Experience as a CNC Maintenance Technician, CNC Service Technician, Field Service Technician/Engineer, CNC Machine Operator, or similar
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems
• Experience troubleshooting and servicing CNC machinery or related industrial equipment
• Familiarity with CNC lathes, turning equipment, bar feeders, or machine tool accessories is highly preferred
• Comfortable working with HMIs, machine alarms, diagnostics, and software updates
• Strong hands-on mechanical troubleshooting and repair abilities
• Ability to work independently at customer facilities
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Associate/2-year degree in Electromechanics, Automation, or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered

Illinois/Wisconsin: Greater Chicago area, Rockford, Aurora, Naperville, Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha and surrounding areas
