Innovative Refrigeration Systems, Inc. is seeking a traveling Field Service Engineer to perform hands-on repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial refrigeration systems at customer facilities.

Training in industrial refrigeration is provided. The role suits engineers who prefer field work over desk engineering, with opportunities to work across design, manufacturing, installation, startup, and ongoing support.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
• Interest in hands-on troubleshooting and learning refrigeration systems; no prior refrigeration experience required.
• Universal EPA certification or ability to obtain.
• RETA 1&2 certification preferred.
• Must be able to wear a respirator and pass a fit test.
• Pre-employment drug screening, felony screening, and motor vehicle record screening.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintenance support for refrigeration equipment from 100 HP to 5,000 HP.
• Perform routine and emergency service on ammonia and Freon systems.
• Apply knowledge of compressors, electrical troubleshooting, and control/alarm systems during inspections and maintenance.
• Adhere to all safety policies and governing requirements.

Job Role

A traveling Field Service Engineer applies engineering education and technical problem-solving skills to hands‑on repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of industrial refrigeration systems at customer facilities. This role is ideal for engineers who want to work directly with equipment in the field rather than in a traditional desk‑based engineering position. Training in industrial refrigeration systems is provided, allowing engineers to build practical service expertise.

Key Duties

• Responsible for refrigeration repair and maintenance support to industrial accounts in food and beverage and refrigerated storage equipment ranging from 100 HP to 5,000 HP
• Perform routine and emergency service on ammonia and Freon refrigeration equipment commonly found in industrial applications
• Use working knowledge of screw and reciprocating compressors, electrical troubleshooting all common types of ammonia central systems, & control/alarm systems to perform inspections and preventative maintenance as required
• Demonstrate an understanding and adherence to all work safety policies, procedures and governing requirements

Requirements

• Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field preferred
• Interest in hands‑on mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and a willingness to learn industrial refrigeration systems; prior refrigeration experience is not required
• Universal EPA certification OR ability to obtain
• RETA 1&2 certification preferred
• Motor alignment experience a plus
