Quality Vision International Inc. is seeking a Field Service Engineer to provide on-site installation, calibration, and repair of QVI metrology products across North America.

This full-time travel role requires technical skill and strong customer service, with occasional international travel. Responsibilities include coordinating dispatches, traveling to sites, performing service tasks, and documenting activities per QVS policies.

Qualifications

  • Requires an associate degree or 2+ years of engineering/tech/physics education, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of technical field service experience or related military service.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with precision measurement skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and manuals.
  • Proficient with computer and controller systems and diagnosing hardware/software interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Receive service dispatch instructions and confirm client details and timing.
  • Travel arrangements and on-site service for QVI metrology products.
  • Install, calibrate, diagnose, repair, and document service activities.
  • Maintain communication with HQ and customers, and prepare reports and logs.
  • Identify upgrade opportunities and relay leads to home office.

Salary: $55,000-$75,000 annually, based on experience.

The Field Service Engineer provides on-site, installation, calibration and repair services for QVI metrology products in North America. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge and customer service communication skills and is a full-time travel assignment with rare international travel required. Field Service Engineers function as a critical part of the Quality Vision Services (QVS) team, QVI’s service organization, supporting a variety of QVI brands: OGP (Optical Gaging Products), CCP (Certified Comparator Products), VIEW (VIEW Micro‑Metrology).

Role and Responsibilities
  • Receive service dispatch instructions via email or phone identifying product, customer, issue, and timing.
  • Make direct contact with customer to confirm details on location and timing for arrival.
  • Arrange and book travel.
  • Arrive on‑site with company‑provided and personal tools and commence work.
  • Maintain contact with QVS headquarters and customer on progress and needs.
  • Complete service call and efficiently complete service reports, logs and expense reports per QVS policies.
  • While on‑site, recognize product upgrade opportunities and collaborate with the home office to communicate leads.
  • Demonstrate initiative and self‑awareness on training needs and proactively communicate to manager.
Requirements
  • Education: 2‑year degree in engineering, technology or physics required. In lieu of degree, 4 years of equivalent related work or military experience will be considered.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of technical hands‑on field service or similar military experience in calibration, diagnosis and repair of complex systems.
  • Strong mechanical & electrical aptitude. Experience using dial indicators, calipers, multimeters, precision levels, etc.
  • Strong math skills and knowledge of units with ability to think “small” (micrometers, micro‑inches, micro‑radians, arc‑seconds, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, specifications and manuals.
  • Computer and controller experience. Knowledge of control systems and ability to diagnose complex hardware/software interactions and take appropriate action.
Soft Skill Requirements
  • Ability to work independently and be resourceful; react quickly in dynamic environments.
  • Convey technical status to customers in clear, honest, professional tone to reinforce relationship.
  • Endurance to sustain a full‑time travel assignment.
  • Strong attention to detail; maintain quality documentation as ISO‑accredited organization requires.
Physical and/or Environmental Requirements
  • Physical fitness and flexibility sufficient to contort into, beneath, and around QVI products to perform service tasks.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods during an 8‑hour shift and use standard office equipment.
  • Ability to drive a car for extended periods and travel via air domestic or internationally as needed.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to work with machine parts and observe fine details.
  • Located within 1 hour of an airport preferred.
  • Ability to move through customer locations with flat surfaces and stairs; ascend/descend ladders safely.
  • Ability to walk long distances during customer locations and between sites.
