Job summary

Mpac Langen is seeking an experienced Field Service Controls Engineer to join our Customer Services team. You will support North American customers from machine installation to commissioning, debugging, and ongoing service, ensuring peak performance of packaging and automation equipment.

This on-site, travel-intensive role requires up to 70% travel across the region, collaborating with Project Managers and Electrical/Wiring teams to deliver projects on time and to the highest standards.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years in industrial automation or machinery manufacturing.
• Strong Allen-Bradley PLC programming and servo motion control experience.
• Experience with machine commissioning and field service.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and electromechanical support for custom automation and packaging machinery.
• Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs.
• Support machine installation, commissioning, FAT, SAT, and customer acceptance activities.
• Travel to customer sites to provide electrical debugging and commissioning support.
• Configure and troubleshoot servo systems, VFDs, sensors, and ancillary equipment.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Electrical Engineers, and Wiring Teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, controls, and machine performance issues both remotely and on-site.
• Update electrical schematics and documentation during debugging and commissioning activities.
• Support retrofits, upgrades, and service projects for installed machinery.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and electrical standards development.

What We're Looking For

• Degree, diploma, or equivalent technical qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.


• 5+ years of experience in industrial automation, controls engineering, or machinery manufacturing.


• Strong Allen-Bradley PLC programming and servo motion control experience.


• Experience with industrial automation systems, machine commissioning, and field service.


• Knowledge of Siemens controls is considered an advantage.


• Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical.


• Understanding of machine safety standards and industrial control systems.


• Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer-facing skills.


• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.


• Packaging machinery experience would be highly beneficial.
