Job summary
SPOC Energy is seeking an Automation Technician to design, program and support automation systems in the Oil & Gas sector. The role involves field service on drives, commissioning of new installations, and troubleshooting across electrical and control instrumentation.
Flexibility to travel, work in challenging environments, and on-call duties including nights and weekends are required. Successful candidates will have I&E and SCADA experience, PLC/HMI programming, and strong reading of electrical
Qualifications
- I&E experience
- SCADA experience
- Pumping or operation experience
- Ability to read technical drawing
- Understanding of volt and process meters
- Power and hand tool operation
- Safety-minded and follow safety regulations
- Ambition to use the latest trends in Automation designs for Oil & Gas
- Experience in PLC and HMI programming, testing and field start up experience
- Able to effectively communicate with customer operations personnel
- Experience with Ethernet networking
- Able to troubleshoot control loops and 4-20mA signals
- Ability to read electrical diagrams, schematics and blueprints
- Able to read P&ID’s
- DOT drug testing compliance is required
Responsibilities
- Provide field service and customer support during visits or dispatches
- Manage on-site installation, repair, maintenance and test tasks
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control instrumentation systems
- Upgrade, install and repair PLCs and HMI systems
- Configure and diagnose communication systems including Modbus and Ethernet
- Install and troubleshoot R/TU and telemetry systems
- Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine solutions
- Produce timely, detailed service reports
- Operate vehicle safely and adhere to field procedures
- Collaborate with engineering, aftermarket and tech support to gather details
