Job summary

Atlanta Fork Lifts, Inc. dba Toyota Material Handling Systems, is seeking a Field Service Apprentice Technician to troubleshoot, repair and perform scheduled maintenance on fuel powered and electric forklifts, and related equipment in the Athens area, at customer sites.

You will work with the Service Coordinator, respond to service calls, identify larger jobs, communicate with customers and office staff, and help plan repairs and rental needs while maintaining safety and organization.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform minor repairs on forklifts.
• Ability to follow instructions and report findings clearly.
• Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Keep work area clean, neat, and safe.
• Strong communication with senior technician and customers.

SUMMARY

The Field Service Apprentice Technician will troubleshoot, repair and perform scheduled maintenance on fuel powered (I.C.) and electric forklifts as well as other related material handling equipment based on customer needs and requirements in the field.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Perform repairs on forklifts and various types of industrial equipment on-site at customer locations. Work with the Service Coordinator and respond to service calls. Communicate with the customer contact and their staff to provide their forklift and material handling needs. The Field Service Apprentice Technician is responsible for identifying larger jobs and communicating with the customer and the office staff to handle these repairs and rental needs.

SKILLS/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Must have basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Basic computer skills.
• Conducts minor repairs of forklifts
• Perform thorough forklift inspections to identify any repairs that are needed. Write down and report all findings of potential or additional repairs necessary on every PM work order.
• Consult with senior technician in regard to needed repairs or additional maintenance items that are needed.
• Clear penmanship and ability to record accurate information.
• Communicate daily activities with senior technician to ensure you are progressing up to par toward your goal.
• Paperwork and documentation must be neat, clean, legible and organized.
• Must be self-motivated and organized.
• Keep work area clean and safe.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. (and occasionally in excess of 75 lbs.)

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

1 year of relevant work experience.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent.

WORK CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is performed in a maintenance shop environment with potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, or solvents which require proper knowledge of safety procedures. Must have the physical ability to perform continuously with full body motion for climbing, reaching, pushing, and lifting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. (and occasionally in excess of 75 lbs.) The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
