Job summary

GE HealthCare is offering a Field Engineer Apprentice role based in Minneapolis, MN, focusing on diagnostic imaging equipment. This one-year remote apprenticeship includes on-site work with hospitals, aiming to prepare you for a long-term field service career and potential internal advancement.

The program emphasizes hands-on repair, preventive maintenance, safety compliance, and documentation while developing close collaboration with customers and the internal team.

Qualifications

• Required: AS, BS, MS degree, military education, certificate program, or current student with less than 12 months to completion; OR high school diploma/GED with 6 months experience servicing electronic, IT, or mechanical equipment.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; no visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Work within hospital radiology environments to evaluate and troubleshoot imaging equipment issues and implement repairs.
• Complete preventative maintenance on designated equipment.
• Perform safety and environmental inspections in line with guidelines.
• Complete service and repair documentation following hospital protocol.
• Maintain daily communication with customers to ensure resolution and follow‑up.
• Learn and maintain tools and test equipment, including calibration and safety standards.
• Assist more experienced technicians with progressive repairs and team service.
• Complete planned quality and compliance training within deadlines and report concerns.
• Adhere to GE HealthCare Quality Manual, QMS, policies and applicable laws.
