Job summary

The University of Minnesota is seeking a temporary Civil Service staff member for 4 months, 20 hours per week, to support environmental research across Minnesota peatlands and streams.

The role focuses on field data collection, greenhouse gas flux measurements using LiCor, and data reporting for ongoing restoration studies. Strong communication and data analysis skills are essential, with a background in wetland or aquatic environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree + 2 years relevant experience or 6 years total experience
  • Field data collection in wetland or aquatic environments
  • Ability to collect data and ensure quality in outdoor conditions
  • Experience monitoring GHG flux with LiCor device
  • Data analysis experience
  • Strong written and verbal reporting skills

Responsibilities

  • Assist with GHG flux measurements and data collection at four peatlands
  • Assist with stream surveys on two projects and evaluate restoration techniques
  • Reporting - write up summaries and assist in written reports for PI to communicate results
