Job summary

Apex Companies, LLC. is seeking an Environmental Scientist – Project Scientist in Iselin, NJ. This role focuses on field sampling, environmental due diligence, and data collection for projects across New Jersey and New York.

80% fieldwork with 20% office work, delivering high-quality environmental deliverables. The position requires a Geology/Hydrogeology/Environmental Science background, 2+ years of field experience, and proficiency with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• 2+ years of environmental field sampling experience.
• Experience with NJDEP and NYSDEC regulations.
• Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental field sampling and data collection (soil, groundwater, vapor intrusion).
• Support Phase I inspections and reporting.
• Assist Phase II investigations and remediation activities.
• Oversee sub-slab vapor mitigation systems and stormwater work.
• Prepare technical reports and field documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, and subcontractors.
• Travel to NJ/NY project sites; some overnight stays.
