Job summary

Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join our team in Hanover, MD. This role involves both field and office work, with up to 80% field time and travel within the U.S. as needed.

You will be part of the Resilience Environment team, focusing on environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks. The position offers mentorship and growth opportunities, with involvement in project planning, data analysis, and client communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related field is required.
• Master’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Task Managers in planning and executing environmental site characterization, investigation, and remediation tasks.
• Conduct fieldwork including soil, groundwater, and vapor sampling; potentially travel within the U.S. for multiple weeks.
• Prepare subcontracts and oversee subcontractors; write technical reports and work plans.
• Coordinate data compilation, cost estimates, health & safety plans, and regulatory file reviews.
• Support emergency response teams and incident-related projects as needed.

Education

Bachelor’s of Science in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related field (i.e., environmental science, physical science)

Master of Science degree in Geology or closely related field
