Job summary

Earth Systems is seeking an Entry-Level Scientist / Engineer / Geologist for our Tallahassee environmental team. This hands-on, field-focused role supports investigations, sampling, remediation, and project execution across Florida, with substantial outdoor work at active sites.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant bachelor's degree, be able to lift 50 lbs, and pass pre-employment screenings. Travel within Florida is required; sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and ability to pass pre-employment checks.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying Florida weather and field conditions.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding field activities.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform soil, groundwater, and surface water sampling following QA/QC procedures.
  • Support Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and investigations.
  • Assist with remediation system operation, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Support environmental drilling, monitoring well installation, and subsurface logging.
  • Document site conditions, field activities, and prepare field notes and reports.

About the Role

Earth Systems is seeking an Entry-Level Scientist / Engineer / Geologist to join our Tallahassee environmental consulting team.

This is a hands-on, field-focused position designed for an early-career professional looking to build practical experience in environmental consulting. You will work alongside Project Managers, Scientists, Geologists, and Engineers supporting environmental investigations, sampling, remediation, and project execution throughout Florida.

This position requires significant outdoor fieldwork in Florida conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, wetlands, wooded areas, uneven terrain, and active project sites.

What You'll Do
  • Perform soil, groundwater, and surface water sampling in accordance with established QA/QC procedures.
  • Support Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments and environmental investigations.
  • Assist with remediation system operation, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Support environmental drilling, monitoring well installation, and subsurface soil and geologic logging.
  • Conduct field inspections and accurately document site conditions and activities.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate environmental sampling and field equipment.
  • Prepare field notes, reports, data summaries, and project documentation.
  • Assist with basic environmental, geologic, and engineering field activities.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and technical staff to complete projects safely and efficiently.
  • Travel to project sites throughout Florida as needed.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree inEnvironmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and ability to pass a 5-year MVR review.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding field activities.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate field documentation.
  • Dependable, safety-focused, and willing to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a field team.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, background check, and physical.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Internship, coursework, or prior field experience involving environmental sampling, geology, hydrology, engineering, or remediation.
  • Familiarity with GPS/GIS, field meters, pumps, or environmental sampling equipment.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification, or ability to obtain after hire.
  • Strong observation, technical writing, and documentation skills.
